Nina and Mags were part of our Shropshire Petals Nearlywed 2026 campaign, and we were thrilled to help them create a dreamy confetti moment for their wedding in March this year.

Here’s a little bit about them and their journey, from their modern-day love story to walking through a cascade of petals surrounded by their loved ones.

How long have you been together? Tell us a little about your story as a couple

We’ve been together for over three years, and it’s a modern-day love story, we met on Hinge! We matched on the app and had our first date on Valentine’s Day. From day one we were completely smitten.

We’re definitely opposites, but we complement each other perfectly. Mags is football-obsessed and the cool, calm one in the relationship, while I (Nina) am running-obsessed and perhaps a little more ‘extra’! We’re both planners and self-confessed Type A brides, so once the proposal happened the wedding planning began almost immediately.

Tell us about the proposal. How did it happen?

We both knew we wanted to get married and decided we should each have our own special proposal moment. We chose our rings together, but everything else, including the date and time, was a complete surprise.

Mags went first and told me we were heading to a karaoke party. Instead, I walked into a beautifully decorated private dining room filled with flowers and a romantic dinner set up just for the two of us.

Then it was my turn! I had one week to plan my proposal for Mags (no pressure!). I surprised her with a beautifully decorated hotel room overlooking the London skyline, filled with flowers and special touches.

Where did you get married and why did you choose this venue?

We got married at the lovely Burlton Manor in Shropshire.

Although we’re based in London, we really wanted a countryside escape for our wedding. Burlton Manor gave us exactly that and so much more. From the moment we arrived, we knew it was the perfect place for us. It was actually the only venue we visited, and for very good reason!

What was the overall style or theme of your wedding?

Our wedding theme was a warm, rustic countryside escape with a touch of glam. The colour palette focused on greens, florals and warm, light tones that complemented the natural surroundings of the venue.

Why did you apply to become a Shropshire Petals Nearlywed?

We applied because we wanted to bring a different representation to the wedding industry. As a same-sex female couple who don’t follow traditional gendered wedding roles, and as two women of colour, our identities are a huge part of who we are.

We wanted to show couples who may not often see themselves represented in the wedding industry that there are many beautiful ways to celebrate love.

What confetti mix did you choose and why?

We chose the Confetti Carnival mix because it perfectly matched our wedding guest dress code colours and also included the colours of the Lesbian Pride flag, a double win!

The mix gave us the perfect amount of drama and colour. The larger petals floated down slowly, which felt quite symbolic of our personalities, Mags being calm and steady, and me bringing the bold and energetic side!

Tell us about your confetti moment!

Our confetti moment was incredible! Walking through the petals while all our guests joined in was such a magical experience.

It felt surreal, like we were in a movie, heading off into our happily ever after. It was such a joyful and fun moment, and the perfect way to celebrate the end of our ceremony.

How did you display your confetti for guests?

We chose the confetti baskets, which fitted perfectly with our rustic countryside theme.

The basket itself was gorgeous and sustainable too, we’re planning to use it as a home décor piece in our house going forward. It’s lovely having something from our wedding day that we get to see every day.

What advice would you give to couples currently planning their wedding?

A hundred things might go wrong on the day, but it really doesn’t matter!

At the end of the day, you’re marrying the love of your life and that’s the only thing that truly matters. When you look back, you won’t remember the small things like someone ignoring the dress code or a drink getting spilled. You’ll remember the look on your partner’s face.

You’ve got this, nearlyweds!

Would you recommend Shropshire Petals to other couples?

Absolutely, our experience with Shropshire Petals has been amazing.

As Type A brides, we really appreciated how organised and easy everything was. From the confetti calculator to the delayed delivery service, everything ran smoothly and took away so much stress.

We also love that Shropshire Petals uses biodegradable, natural petals, which is so important in helping make the wedding industry more sustainable.

Most importantly, we felt incredibly supported as an LGBTQ+ couple. From the use of gender-neutral language to making sure both brides felt included throughout the process, it meant a lot to us. We would absolutely recommend Shropshire Petals to other LGBTQ+ couples looking for suppliers they can feel comfortable with.
