As part of our Shropshire Petals Nearlywed 2026 campaign, we’re catching up with couples who have now tied the knot to hear all about their special days, from the little details that made their weddings unique to the confetti moments they’ll treasure forever.

Next, we’re sharing Alice and Aaron’s wedding story. Childhood sweethearts who have been together for more than nine years, they celebrated their marriage with a rustic countryside theme, beautiful shades of blue and a personalised confetti mix. We caught up with Alice to hear all about their special day, from Aaron’s romantic proposal in the Lake District to their petal confetti moment and her advice for couples planning their own wedding.

A love story that begin at the age of 11

Alice and Aaron first met when they started high school together at the age of 11, although it wasn’t until they were 19 that their relationship began. After more than nine years together, it was time for the next chapter.

Aaron popped the question beside Ullswater Lake in the Lake District, with just the two of them there to share the moment. A perfect, intimate proposal in a beautiful setting!

A Rustic Countryside Wedding

For their wedding ceremony, Alice and Aaron chose their local church before heading to The Oaks Barn in Dilhorne, Staffordshire, for their reception.

They knew the venue was right as soon as they went to view it and didn’t feel the need to look anywhere else. Not only was it conveniently close to their church, but it also fitted perfectly with the style they had in mind.

Their wedding had a rustic barn, farm and countryside feel, with a beautiful colour scheme of cornflower blue and navy. The perfect setting for a relaxed countryside celebration.

Creating Their Perfect Blue Confetti Mix

Alice was already familiar with our flowers, as she had visited Shropshire Petal Fields before this collaboration

“I loved seeing the process of the flowers once they had grown and how they then turn it into confetti!”

Biodegradable confetti was always important to Alice and Aaron, as their church only allows biodegradable options, as do many wedding venues. They also loved the idea of creating beautiful confetti photographs while choosing colours to complement their wedding.

To tie everything together, they decided to create their own confetti mix via our Pick and Mix Confetti, combining Icing Sugar and Frosted Blue delphiniums. Duckegg Blue and Daisy Daisy Hydrangea petals to match their cornflower blue and navy colour scheme. The result was a beautiful, personalised mix that complemented their wedding perfectly.

Making Their Confetti Moment Easy

When it came to displaying their confetti, Alice and Aaron opted for our individual sachets prepared  by the team. This meant one less thing to organise in the lead-up to the wedding. All they needed to do was display the sachets in a basket for their guests to pick up as they arrived.

Alice said the colours looked beautiful in their photographs, and there was one confetti moment that really stood out. “The highlight is our groomsmen putting the rest of the confetti in the basket and throwing it at us at the end.”

We love that! It’s a lovely reminder that some of the best wedding moments are the spontaneous ones you don’t necessarily plan.

Alice’s Advice for Future Nearlyweds

Wedding planning can feel overwhelming at times, but Alice’s advice for couples getting ready for their big day is simple:

“My main advice is don’t stress! Things do go wrong in the process but everything will all come together and you will have the most perfect day!”

A lovely reminder to focus on what matters most and enjoy the journey along the way.

Why Alice Recommends Shropshire Petals

Alice would wholeheartedly recommend Shropshire Petals to other couples planning their wedding. From choosing their colours to organising delivery, she found the whole experience straightforward.

She particularly loved how easy the website was to navigate, from ordering samples to creating their own personalised confetti mix. She also highlighted two features that helped make planning easier:

  • The Petal Calculator
Our handy Petal Calculator helps you work out how much confetti you’ll need for your guest numbers, taking the guesswork out of ordering.

  • Delayed Delivery
If you like to get organised well in advance, our delayed delivery service lets you order your confetti ahead of time and have it delivered one month before your wedding day. It’s a great way to tick another task off your list without worrying about storing your petals for too long.

For Alice, this was a particularly useful feature as someone who likes to be organised!
