What a year it has been. From award wins and big moves to weather surprises, workshops, new faces and even new four-legged team members, 2025 has kept us on our toes in the very best way. Settle in and enjoy this little wander through everything that has happened at Shropshire Petals over the past twelve months.

Award Wins and Proud Moments

We started the year on a real high. In February, we attended the Sustainable Wedding Alliance Summit and Awards where Shropshire Petals won the Sustainable by Design award. With so many brilliant businesses in the running, we were honestly over the moon. This award recognises those who prioritise sustainability and thoughtful design, and it means so much to be acknowledged for the values that sit at the very heart of what we do.

Not long afterwards, we were recognised again, this time by Hitched, the leading UK wedding directory. Being named their Wedding Favours Winner for 2025 was another wonderful moment for the team and the farm.

In September, we attended The Farmer Rural Awards where we were shortlisted for both Family Business of the Year and the Sustainable Initiative Award. Although we didn’t take home a trophy this time, it was a really special evening celebrating the farming community and all the brilliant work happening across the industry.

A Harvest to Remember

The weather kept us on our toes this year. Spring and summer arrived hot and dry, with 62% less rain between March and June compared to last year. That meant we needed to water the flowers four times more often than usual, fortunately using the winter rainwater we had stored. Being part of a 2,000-acre farm, with irrigators shared between our flowers, potatoes, wheat grown for Wild Farmed, and oilseed rape, was a huge help.

Despite the challenging conditions, the harvest team were incredible. Thanks to their hard work, we have more than enough confetti and dried flowers ready for next year and beyond, so no need for anyone to worry.

Welcoming New Team Members

This year brought five new additions to the team. Erin joined our procurement team, Charlotte became our Customer Relations Expert, and Ellie joined our marketing team, bringing even more creativity and energy to the department. We feel very lucky to have welcomed such wonderful people, each bringing their own spark to the farm.

We also had two very important furry arrivals. Teddy and Victor joined the family and have been busy spreading joy, wagging their tails at everyone who visits, and generally keeping morale very high. They might also receive more treats than strictly necessary, but we regret nothing.

Launching Our Affiliate Programme

We have always been grateful for the many people who champion our petals. Their support helps local biodiversity and encourages couples to make a sustainable choice for their wedding day. This year we wanted to give something back, which is why we launched our Affiliate Programme. It allows our supporters to earn commission on first-time customer orders, and it has already led to some brilliant collaborations. We’re looking forward to growing the programme even further next year.

Our First Ever Confetti Field Workshop

July saw us host our very first Confetti Field Workshop here at Shropshire Petals. We invited a group of talented photographer friends for a day surrounded by flowers, creativity and plenty of petals. Led by the wonderful Lisa Webb Photography, the workshop covered everything from capturing the perfect confetti moment to knowing the best timing for the throw.

For many, it was a rare chance to experiment freely without the pressure of a wedding day, and the results were incredible. The fields put on a beautiful display for the occasion, and the energy from everyone involved made it a day to remember. We are already planning next year’s workshop. Anyone interested can email alannah@shropshirepetals.co.uk to be added to the waiting list.

Shropshire Petal Fields

This was our third year running the ten-day Shropshire Petal Fields event in collaboration with Shropshire Festivals, and it just keeps getting better. The warm weather meant the flowers bloomed earlier than expected, so we brought the event forward slightly, but everything ran smoothly and the atmosphere was wonderful throughout. We just love seeing everyone enjoying the flowers as much as we do, and the best part is all the wonderful moments captured on camera.

One of the standout moments this year was watching a Virgin Balloon flight lift off from the fields at sunrise. A few of the team were lucky enough to hop aboard, and they described the experience as magical. We’re already excited for Shropshire Petal Fields 2026.

Working With Our Supplier Friends

We have worked with so many fantastic suppliers this year, from photographers and stylists to venues and wedding creatives. Several of the styled shoots we were part of went on to be featured in top wedding magazines and blogs, which always feels like such an achievement.

We supported venues by providing confetti samples for their open days too, and next year we hope to attend even more local wedding fairs. We love meeting nearlyweds in person, chatting about their plans, and letting them see our petals up close.

A Big Birthday Year

Among the many birthdays on the farm, one stood out above them all: Shropshire Petals turned twenty. The team baked a cake, we had a big celebratory confetti throw, and we ran a special 24-hour 20% off offer to say thank you to our customers for supporting us over the years. We are incredibly proud of everything the farm has achieved in two decades, and it was lovely to take a moment to look back on the journey. For a trip down memory lane click here.

Shropshire Petals Nearlywed Campaign

We’ve now selected five nearlyweds who we’ll be working with next year as part of our Nearlywed Campaign. We’ll be following their confetti journey from their first petal samples choices right up to their confetti moment on the big day. We can’t wait to see their stories unfold.

A New Office and Warehouse

One of the biggest milestones this year has been the development of our new office and warehouse. Even now it still feels a little unbelievable. Saying goodbye to the Petal Shed next year will be emotional, as so many memories were made there, but moving into a space where our whole team can work together is something we’ve dreamed of for years.

Since the wider farm grows potatoes, wheat and oilseed rape alongside confetti and dried flowers, bringing every part of the business together under one roof will be incredibly special. We are hoping to move in during spring next year, and we’re already planning lots of exciting events!

Looking Ahead

2025 has been full of growth, challenges, celebrations and unforgettable moments. To everyone who has supported us, visited our fields, collaborated with us, chosen our petals for their wedding day or simply followed along on our journey, thank you. Your support means more than you know.

We’re stepping into next year with excitement, gratitude and plenty of plans. Here’s to another year of petals, creativity and community. If this year is anything to go by, the next one is going to be extraordinary.
