Here at Shropshire petals, we are committed to doing things as sustainably as possible.
This year, we pledge to look into all areas of our business to improve the sustainability of our products and practices. We recognise that we are not perfect but we are working on being better. We want to tell you about some of the immediate changes we have made within the office, as a business and across our farm.
Just before the end of 2018, we became a disposable pen-free office. We embraced beautiful pencils and lovely refillable fountain pens. Did you know, that Biro you used a few times then lost down the side of the sofa could take 500 years to disappear?
Our Circular economy
'Share the love & love your planet!' We now offer a circular economy scheme on our plastic products. We care about the post-consumer life of all our products which is why we send a FREE returns label. You can send back your empties ensuring your wedding packaging is either used again by another couple or recycled. Alternatively all our plastic products are PET plastic which can be widely recycled by yourself.
No wasteful paper
You may notice there is no invoice in with your orders now. All the info you need is in your order confirmation! We'd rather climb trees than cut them down.
Our Dispatch boxes are from 80% recycled sources.
All our packaging for our 1 litre, 5 litre, 10 litre bags and Individual sachets are carbon neutral and our lovely tissue paper and scent cards that come in your orders are FSC approved.
Taking our snacking seriously
Guilt free snacking! (This does not include any guilt we may feel after eating 6 bags of crisps and a multipack of KitKats) We've signed up to two Terracycle schemes offering recycling for all our crisp and biscuit wrappers, farm wide.
We've harnessed the power of the sun! No, we are not magic, but did you know, most of the farm is run off solar power? We only buy extra units from the grid in our extra busy periods to get all the lovely petals picked and processed.
These are just a few of the things we are doing but there is lots more in the pipe line for this year and we are very excited to make lots of wonderful changes to help us on our way to being more sustainable.
