We have some very exciting news to share. Shropshire Petals and our Shropshire Petal Fields have been named finalists in not one, not two, but four categories at The Farmer Rural Awards 2026.
For a family farm that has spent 21 years growing flowers for life's happiest moments, this means the world to us. It's a lovely nod to everyone who plants, picks, dries, packs and welcomes visitors here on the farm in Newport, Shropshire.
About The Farmer Rural Awards
Now in their second year, The Farmer Rural Awards are hosted by The Farmer in association with the Shropshire Star. They celebrate the businesses, organisations and people working hard to keep our rural community thriving.
Winners will be revealed at a black-tie awards ceremony and gala dinner on Thursday 22nd October at Shrewsbury Town Football Club, with over 150 guests from across the farming sector expected.
Our four finalist categories
Shropshire Petals: Sustainable Initiative Award
Sustainability is built into everything we do, from our petals to our packaging to our fields. This year, we've taken our biggest steps yet:
- A new A+ EPC-rated home for our office, dispatch and warehouse
- More than triple the solar power, from 125kW to 425kW, plus 600kWh of battery storage
- Biodegradable Dye-free petals, posted in 80% recycled boxes, FSC and recyclable packaging
- Regenerative farming, from hedge laying and reed beds to 72-metre flower margins for wildlife
- A Sustainability Team with members from every department

Shropshire Petal Fields: Rural or Farming Event of the Year
In collaboration with award winning events company Shropshire Festivals, every summer we open our gates and invite visitors to wander through rows of colour in our Shropshire Petal Fields. Seeing families, couples and friends enjoying the flowers is one of the highlights of our year, so we're thrilled it has caught the judges' eye.
Shropshire Petal Fields: Farm Diversification Award
We're a fourth-generation family farm, still growing wheat, oilseed rape and potatoes alongside our flowers. Creating a purpose-built visitor attraction has opened up a whole new way for people to connect with where their flowers come from.
Shropshire Petal Fields: Agricultural Business of the Year
From precision farming to our flower fields, we're proud of how our farm has grown and changed over the years. Being shortlisted alongside so many brilliant rural businesses is a real honour.
