Top 10 wedding planning things to do during Lockdown

Whilst we're all following government advice and doing our part to reduce the spread of Covid-19 by staying at home, most of us are finding we've got a bit more time on our hands. What better way to use that time than planning your wedding?

Here's our Top 10 wedding planning things to do during lockdown:

1. Pinterest boarding like a boss

Did you know you can make boards within boards on Pinterest these days? Why not create separate boards for your flowers, décor, wedding dress and even bridesmaid dresses. Not only can you invite your bridal squad to help you find what's right for you, you can also get their opinions too. If you need a little inspiration take a look at the Shropshire Petals Pinterest, we've got tonnes of ideas, styles, colour schemes, the works!

2. Virtual tours

Go on a virtual tour of your chosen wedding venue. With some venues offering either videos or Facetime calls to show you around; you can still find that dream wedding location, and you wouldn't even need to leave the house. Winning!

4. Research your ideal suppliers

Take the time to think about what you want on your wedding day from a visual point of view and also from a personal point of view. After all some of your suppliers will be with you throughout your special day, so you want to make sure you gel with them. Consider style too, if you're looking for the ultimate fairytale wedding, finding a wedding photographer, cake maker and other suppliers that have created that look before is perfect! Whereas if you're looking to create an informal chilled out barn wedding, a different set of wedding suppliers might work better. Find suppliers that align with you, that get what you are trying to create. Consider what kind of work they have done before? Look through their website, portfolio or social media for insights into who they are. It's worth taking your time to find the right fit.

5. DIY

Can you do any of the DIY projects now even if your wedding isn't for a year or two? If you're planning on having bunting everywhere for example, why not use this time now to create it. Once you've completed it, it can be sorted away and it's another thing ticked off your list. Doing some DIY project as part of your wedding can usually save you some money, but what often happens is couples have the best of intentions, but don't realise how long these things can take, and it can add to the stress in the run up to the wedding. Avoid any stress and cracking on with anything you can now.

Doing that extra bit of research will help you full enjoy your honeymoon.

8. Learn a new skill

Have you always wanted to give calligraphy a go? Why not give it a try and learn to write your wedding invites, or place cards? We love Oh Wonderland Calligraphy for a bit of inspiration. Alternatively, if you're feeling really adventurous and want to push yourself, you could learn to sew and make your own wedding dress. You could even make your own botanical mix of gin and bottle them as mini wedding favours; or make your own candles to decorate the venue. Don't be afraid to ask friends and family too, more hands make less work, and they will feel even more a part of the big day. If you're looking for something different, we've just launched a Create your own dried flower wreath kit, these make wonderful decorations and can last for years when stored away from heat, moisture and direct light.

10. Spending more time with your fiancé

There is one major positive to the country being in lockdown and it's that you get to spend extra time with your fiancé. According to a recent report by Bridebook, on average couples these days are together for about 5 years before getting engaged, but with work and other commitments we don't always get to spend the time we want to together. Why not spend this time playing games together, have breakfast in bed, learning to cook new meals together, or having a romantic date night via candle light?
