Styled Bridal Shoot inspired by Old World Glamour
Here at Shropshire Petals, we often get asked to send confetti to photographers for photo shoots. Last summer, we sent petals to the lovely Scott-Wood Photography for an Old World Glamour shoot. Today we welcome Rowena from Scott-Wood Photography as our guest blogger:
Last summer Scott-Wood Photography and a great team
of talented wedding professionals had great fun recreating ‘old world glamour’
in the gorgeous Georgian House that is Island Hall in Cambridgeshire.
Sitting resplendent on the banks of the river Great
Ouse, overlooking the ornamental island from which it takes its name, wedding
couples and their
guests enjoy exclusive use of the house and from early spring through to autumn
you can also have a splendid marquee on the island.
The
main inspiration for the shoot was Cecil Beaton, without a doubt one of the
greatest fashion photographers of last century, famed for capturing beautiful
women elegantly and beloved of Vanity and Vogue. His images are timeless,
ethereal and classic.
The feature image of the day is inspired by
romance with a capital R! Pink and cream candles and natural rose petal
confetti, surround the bride as she stands by a beautiful fireplace bathed in
gorgeous light from the candles and natural light from the window. The striking
fashion forward backless two-piece is a design by Lara B, worn beautifully by
model Stacey. It’s a fairytale, ethereal image with a frisson of colour
provided by the beautiful teal Mandarina shoes.
Each of our brides had a very different
look and a heavy crochet strapless gown by Jesus Peiro suited Katie perfectly
for more beautiful shots by the fireplace. The emphasis is on fine art and
elegance showing the detail of the gorgeous lace of the Jesus Peiro gown and
the delicate shoes surrounded by petals and candles. So romantic!
There is an amazing image by Cecil Beaton
of Audrey Hepburn, leaning elegantly against a pillar and looking SO elegant.
Island Hall has amazing blue pillars in its main hall so the opportunity to
capture shots here was too good to miss, with model Jen reclining gracefully in
an Elbeth Gillis ‘Edith’ gown. She looks stunning and it’s the kind of bridal
portrait that is just timeless and beautiful.
And of course the team couldn’t resist
using the grand stairway as a backdrop for the photo of Jen in her Elbeth Gills
gown surrounded by more petals and flowers………incredibly chic.
A shoot like this requires a great team. So
in addition to the owners of Island Hall, Christopher, his daughter Grace and
Lady Lynda Vane Percy, playing an important part in the day and on hand to
provide insight into the house the ‘dream team’ was completed by a bevy of beautiful
talent
