Our fave feel-good films!
In amongst all the uncertainty right now, as we endeavour to stay home to help the NHS - it is more important than ever to practice a little self-love. And, what better way to do it, than with a feel-good film, a facemask and some snacks!
Whilst us SP girls are making the most of working from home, we are also finding ways to keep ourselves entertained on an evening. So, we decided to bring you in on the goss' and expose our fave feel-good films!
Emma-Jo
One of our new additions to the SP family! Ems' favourite feel good film starts with a total classic from her childhood - Lion King 2, because of the empowered and brave Kiara! Lion King 2 is like the Disney/Cartoon version of Romeo and Juliet - with loads of super cool songs! We swear she knows every single word to every single song.
And of course, her second favourite is the notorious Mamma-Mia! 'What better way to lift spirits, than to sing along to Abba anthems at the top of your voice?'
YOU ARE THE DANCING QUEEEEEEEN!
Ashley
Our awesome Ashley has chosen none other than The Grand Budapest Hotel!
'I'm a geek for Wes Anderson films, they look pretty and he has a quirky way of storytelling. There's a line that one of the main characters says;
Rudeness is merely an expression of fear. People fear they won't get what they want. The most dreadful and unattractive person only needs to be loved, and they will open up like a flower.
That has always stuck with me. It's one of my favourite films because there is everything you need, there's humour, romance, heartbreak, drama, thriller, and of course a great chase too. It's a great feel good film that I'd recommend to everyone!'
A second favourite of Ashley's is The Greatest Showman, one of the most iconic and empowering films of 2017! Who doesn't love a film with both Zac Efron AND Hugh Jackman in it?
Jessica
Another newbie to Shropshire Petals, is our girl - Jessica! Jess' Fave film has to be Parent Trap.
Two mischievous young girls meet at camp - soon to discover that they are biological twins! Intrigued to find out more about their parents, they decide to switch lives! Full of pranks and mischief! A great choice from Jess!
Plus - Lindsay Lohan plays BOTH twins! Now that is talent!
Spot the difference!
Laura
Our last newbie introduction is the lovely Laura. Laura's faves are the Harry Potter films! What a great time to dedicate every evening to witches and wizards. Harry Potter is full of some incredible one liners - enough to boost anyone's mood!
'But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'
She also loves a good Disney film - The Little Mermaid being her fave! With Disney Plus being released, what better way to re-watch your childhood number ones! Nostalgic or what?
Helena
Hels-bels, as Ashley calls her, has chosen her
fave feel good movie – Up!
'It’s surprisingly moving and relateable at the beginning
and you really feel the heart ache, and it has the most amazing music score
that’s really sweet and uplifting.'
How sweet is that?!
Her second choice was the unforgettable 10 things I
hate about you, a super 90's film (Sorry if you're not a 90's kid). and How
amazing was Heath Ledger?
Megan
And, she's back! After her travels around South East Asia, Megan is now back home and enjoying some 'me time' by re-watching the renowned Crazy, Stupid, Love.
'It's a great romantic comedy with a super cute story line filled with an amazing set of actors. It puts a smile on my face and never fails to make me laugh!'
She's swapped hostels and pad thai for duvet days and feel good films - we are living for it!
Sarah
Our little sweetheart, Sarah! Sarah's contribution is Cool Runnings, you know this one - surely? When a Jamaican sprinter is disqualified from the Olympic Games, he enlists the help of a dishonoured coach to start the first Jamaican Bobsled Team! An absolute treat to watch with the family.
'I just LOVE Cool Runnings! It shows that there is nothing wrong with being different, and encourages people not to care what others think.'
Yes Sarah! 100%!!
Junior Bevill: Seeming to you, nobody likes us?
Yul Brenner: We're different. People are always afraid of what's different.
Emma
And the original Emma - don't call her Em… We'll get confused!
Emma's more of a 'get up and go' than a 'stay at home in the duvets' kind of girl - but Bridesmaids is a film, good enough to make her stay in with a tub of Ben & Jerrys!
'My fave feel good film is definitely Bridesmaids, it's such a relatable film as we've definitely all felt like Annie at one point in our lives! It's also hilarious and provided the world with some great quotes.
Also, what kind of name is Stove?'

We are all in this together - keep an eye out for our upcoming blog for some ideas on how to keep busy!
