There is nothing we love more than a relaxed boho chic woodland wedding, even better when it's bluebell season in the UK and dreamy blue pools of these graceful flowers form creating the ideal backdrop for unforgettable wedding photographs.

We were kindly asked to be part of a micro wedding styled shoot at a glorious woodland setting in Surrey with a bunch of super talented creatives and guess what, the bluebells were out in full force! From minimal bench-style tables, a naked rustic wedding cake and chic wildflowers to a charming confetti station this breath-taking shoot is filled with rustic boho wedding ideas, perfect for those of you wanting to host an intimate wedding in natural surroundings.

This shoot will most certainly inspire you to take a fresh and sustainable approach to your wedding theme.

The Concept

''To create an eco conscious, bohemian wedding, where two adventurous souls could tie the knot immersed in nature. Drawing on a colour palette of subtle blue hues, cream and lilacs, we combined elements of vintage luxury with rustic wood textures and natural fibres of silk and linen to sit in harmony with the surrounding elements" - Suki owner of The Green Escape

A Romantic Forest Setting

The Green Escape is a secret location that is part of the beautiful National Trust woodland on Leigh Hill, Surrey. This rustic family-owned venue is less than one hour from London, immersed in nature it's an absolute must for free spirited lovers wanting an outdoor wedding with a guest list of 30 people.

With exclusive hire of the eco woodland venue, 22 of your guests can glamp overnight in their fabulous and extremely cosy shepherd huts.

Celebrating your big day beneath the trees with a chorus of bird songs overhead and then dancing the night away under the stars, what more could you ask for from a venue? They even have the option to move the party indoors, their eco lodge known as The Bales features french doors and large windows looking out to the forest, this space can easily be transformed for an indoor ceremony or dining area.

Flowers and Decor

Our freeze dried Hydrangea Petals created a magical pathway down the aisle scattered between log pew ends which were topped with cream candle lanterns and repurposed marmalade pots holding pretty bluebells. White hanging paper lanterns were layered above the aisle for an enchanted woodland look, along with the forest backdrop which made for a stunning area for the wedding vows to take place.

Florist Bryony Mae
excelled with the flower arrangements, the loose styling, perfect colour palette and mixture of anemones, delphiniums, nigella and beautiful roses really complimented the natural beauty of The Green Escape's surroundings.

Vintage style mismatching bud vases give a simple but effect look on the tablescapes alongside Willow and Ribbons naturally dyed eco and vegan linen runners and napkins, crystal cut wine glasses, silver candelabras and log place mats created the dreamiest alfresco wedding breakfast setting.

You don't need to go overboard with decor at this type of outdoor venue as the natural splendour of the surroundings truly shine, especially the carpet of magical bluebells. A dream location for any wedding photographer to shoot at.

Vintage Style Wedding Dress

The bride wore a Hope & Harlequin vintage styled grown featuring sheer batwing sleeves and embellished embroidered stars, paired with silver ankle boots for the ultimate bohemian vibe. This stylish look was accompanied with a stunning floral crown, hand crafted by the extremely talented Folkey Dokey, all made with locally sourced preserved flowers and grasses. What's great about these types of accessories, they can be kept long after the big day as an memento.

The groom perfectly complemented the colour scheme in a tailored three-piece suit from NA Menswear, the no tie and socks look also worked well with the relaxed boho theme.

Rustic Naked Cake

Cakes By Lara created a divine two tier semi-naked cake with organic edible flowers. This classic-yet-rustic cake fitted wonderfully with the theme, sitting the cake on a wooden slice on top of  a vintage Singer sewing table give it the picture-perfect boho vibe.

Naked cakes are the perfect option for those of you who don't have a big sweet tooth as there is less icing, also pricing is another plus as there is less time spent having to ice the cake to a smooth finish.

Magical Confetti Moment

To compliment the boho theme we provided our stunning and extremely popular Summer Nights Mix, it's a beautiful combination of icing sugar, candy floss and frosted blue petals which are grown all here on our Shropshire farm. 100% natural, biodegradable and sustainable our confetti is the preferred choice for venues as it means it won't harm the environment and no one had to clean up after the big day.

Displayed in a Victorian wash stand guests could help themselves to a handful to throw over the newlyweds. When it comes to confetti there is absolutely no right or wrong way to display it, it's really down to what feels rights for your day. Whether you are having a rustic barn theme, going for an industrial vibe or even a modern contemporary look we have a huge range of choices to help you display confetti for your guests.
The lighting and backdrop were just perfect for the magical confetti moment, a photograph which is most certainly a must for the wedding album. Don't forget to order yours.
If your wedding is over 3 months away and you like to be organised, order ahead with our Delayed Delivery service and we will be super happy to help.
