Follow the bride #9
With just over 2
weeks to go we wanted to catch up with our bride to find out all about the
dress…and the shoes…and the veil…ok, the whole outfit!
So Katie, the
question on all of our lips, is your dress finished?!
Yes! I’m loving the
fact that I edged on the side of caution as my dress is plenty big enough so
today I’m off to enjoy my hen do knowing that I’m not a Bridezilla worrying
about what she can eat or drink!
Have you got the
perfect accessories to match? Please tell all!!
My dress and veil are quite simple and understated so I’ve
added a couple of extra bolder touches with my accessories, in the form of
shoes and jewellery. I’m quite a quirky
person so they definitely suit. I think
keeping things simple allows for key touches to stand out rather than
everything being OTT. I’ve finally got
pockets in my dress too which makes me so happy! My sister has them in her Chief
Bridesmaid dress too so I can see a pocket pose being on the photographers
list!
Being a winter wedding, keeping warm is definitely an
issue. I’ve got gloves as it’s going to
be chilly and we’ve got lots of big woollen blankets as shawls. Coincidentally
mine matches the pattern of mums Mother of the Bride dress so that’ll make a
nice photo too!
How are the groom and
groomsmen’s outfits coming on?
Graham’s booked the suits and they’ve all been for
fittings. Graham knew what he wanted and
I love them too, the waistcoats certainly suit the relaxed feel we are after.
I’ve made Naithan our page boy a little waistcoat as the
suit company didn’t do a waistcoat for age 5 so I made him one out of some of
the fabrics I’ve used for the dresses – he’ll match the flower girl then too-
so cute!
For the ties Graham chose a
pale blue, not knowing the Bridesmaid colours he selected his favourites and I
just told him which ones wouldn’t go, however there weren’t actually any I
didn’t like.
Have the mother of
the bride and the mother of the groom got their outfits sorted?
Yes they are all sorted, two very excited Mums! As Nan
started the dress making tradition, my Mum has made Nan something to give to
her on the day (I can’t say what as Nan will be reading this), we’re going to
see whether we can keep the tradition alive!
Any tips for brave
brides who want to have a go at making their perfect wedding dress?
It’s you big day so do what you want and don’t
be put off by people saying you can’t do something, Perfection isn’t about
everything being right it’s about it being right for you.
I still got that feeling of ‘the one’ when I
found a dress pattern I loved.
You’ll fall in and out of love with your dress
so many times.
Know your limits, I picked a fairly simple
pattern which I loved and I know Graham will love, however if I had of found
the perfect dress and I knew I couldn’t have made it I would have bought it
instead.
If there’s a choice between ‘wedding’ and what
you think you want, ‘wedding’ is usually the right choice. The ‘experts’ are not named so for no reason. And, a little sparkle never hurt anyone… Embrace it!

to Be! X x
