Follow The Bride #5
It's all go here at Shropshire Petals so things have been a bit quiet on the 'follow the bride front'. I managed to find a minute to catch up with our bride over a cup of tea to see what she's been up to.....
Hi
Katie! First things first, have you actually had any time to do anything
wedding related?! If yes, what have you been busy doing?
Hi Lovelies, well it’s all been a little quiet on
the wedding front lately, however it’s only because we’re getting the wedding
priorities right- confetti of course! Its harvest at SP so I’ve been ensuring
all the petals are in tip top condition as this will be the confetti Graham and
I get to have for our wedding!
There's lots to choose from but the frosted blue is looking fab this year
However this past week has been full of surprises,
starting when I returned home from work on Wednesday to find a beautiful
bouquet of flowers and a very big envelope…
A lovely after work suprise
A few weeks ago, on his ‘mission to keep Katie calm’ Graham
asked one of my Bridesmaids Claire a favour; with invitations drawing closer to
deadline Graham asked her to draw something to go on the front of our invites. I know a lot of people make their invites and
this is very much a hand-made wedding, but the thought of hand-crafting some
150 or so invites just does not excite me! However, wanting them to be personal
I decided that if I drew a picture for the printers to put onto the invites
then this was an alternative way to still be creative and extremely
personal. We saw a great company called
Appleberry Press at the National Wedding Show who understood just what we were
after.
Appleberry Press – A Recommendation for Invitations from Graham and I
The invitation artwork was a job I was going to do myself but
with harvest in full flow I was struggling to find the time and didn’t want to
rush. Claire nipped up to take some
photos (I was completely unaware of this!) and on Wednesday she popped the final
piece round. A complete surprise, very
sweet of Graham to organise it all and amazing of Claire to do it, she’s a fab
artist and I’m so pleased with the result. So all that was left is for us to choose was the style of font, layout
and what text we wanted to go on.
We managed to make time for one little but extremely fun task over the weekend - the gift list!
Choosing the gift list- the most fun
part so far!
The
most important thing for us is to share our wedding day with Friends and
Family; presents don’t matter. But as
Mum (Chief Bridal planner!) says ‘a wedding list we must have!’ Nowadays a lot of people ask for money, but
being quite traditional (and having spent 5 years without a toaster!) we opted
for a gift list. I’ve always wanted to
walk round a shop with a ‘zapper’ and oh my gosh it did not disappoint… how
much fun!!!? After a good hour spent deciding we had our list and can now pop
the gift list cards in with our invitations. Another job off the to-do list: Invites… tick!
4 months until
the big day – what’s left on the list?
4 months? Actually 3 ½ months now, that’s slightly worrying
as most things are still left on the list! I think the next job will be catching up with the venue, that’s booking
in our tasting night so we get to try the wedding breakfast (hot, yummy food
for a cold winter’s day) and also decide on the room layout, table centre
pieces, place names and menu cards etc – so lots of nice little jobs, I think
Pinterest may become my favourite tool over the next couple of weeks!
There’s so many choices for winter
wedding table centre pieces!
Alongside this there’s the cake and the flowers… now is the
time when all of our ideas will really start to come together… I can’t
wait!
