Follow The Bride #4

In today's follow the bride we're getting some wedding details from the groom!

Can you tell our lovely readers a bit about yourself:

I’m Graham Fowles, I work in the RAF as a Firefighter which I've been doing for 10 years. I currently work at the Defence Fire Training and Development Centre in Kent. Which means I work away Monday - Friday and only get to enjoy being back in Shropshire at the weekends.

What are your wedding duties?

My first job was to get the Church sorted and help sort the guest list so we could decide the right venue.

I’ve then sorted the band – the main duty for the day- making sure everyone is up on their feet at all times!

I went to the National Wedding Show in London where Katie was working for Shropshire Petals, I even helped on the stand a bit too!  We sorted the invitations here, we had no idea what we wanted and then saw a great company called Appleberry Press that fit the bill, their designs suited us perfectly so we sorted it all there and then.

Next up is ring shopping, Katie’s engagement ring was her Great Granny’s so we want something simple which compliments it.

I've still got to get the suits sorted. I don’t know the colours of the bridesmaid dresses but Katie’s given me a neutral colour for the ties so that will fit in well. (I just need to remember what the colour is)

I’m on the honeymoon booking task too which is the main one for Katie and I (well me), as I don't believe Katie can stay calm between now and then so I will definitely need a holiday to recover.

I’m very much looking forward to the menu tasting too!  We’re wanting it to be good hot food that everyone enjoys- think family favourites!

But No. 1 Duty between now and the big day is keeping Katie calm! Katie’s really relaxed and cracking on with everything so as long as everything is on track everything’s ok, but if there’s a slip up that’s where I come in as I’m pretty good at sorting situations and taking the stress out of simple things, I believe I do this by keeping things light hearted and annoying Katie in other ways that she forgets about anything else.

We can’t believe how relaxed Katie is about the wedding, is she secretly a bridezilla at home?!

No, we’re doing a lot of work on the house which we moved into last summer whilst I was away so we’ve been occupied at home with that.  Katie usually does the dresses whilst I’m away during the week.  I’m sure we’ll see a freak out bridezilla moment closer to the time… but that’s what I’m here for!

Have you chosen your best man and ushers yet?

Yes these were asked on Christmas day when Katie asked the Bridesmaids. Well, I think I did, so I'm sticking with that so Katie doesn't tell me off.  So I’ve got my brother as the best man, the ushers are my nephew Ostinas, Katie’s brother Steve, and a couple of close friends Sulli and Jim, and then my other nephew, Naithan, as Paige boy.  I can see the Paige boy and flower girl stealing the limelight!  Which might be nice as no one will see me nervously waiting at the top of the church!

Have you got any idea what your best man has planned for your stag do?

No I’ve no idea.  I’m pretty relaxed and easy going so don’t want anything over the top. He has asked me to provide a guest list and he will sort the rest. My only requirement is it stays in the UK.

Beach or city honeymoon?

What’s left to do for the big day?

Next job is to book the honeymoon, It’s great being the Groom to Be as I get the good jobs! Katie keeps asking me to make decisions on stuff but I keep telling her, "I've made the only decision that matters and that is I want to marry her!"

Jo's sunning herself on holiday this week so Katie's putting the blog up (that's me!) and as I'm the Bride to Be I'm certainly reading this blushing! Awww!

Love as always SP! x x
