6/08/2007  |  No rest for the wicked...

Hello strangers! Well I'm back to the land of the living after crashing by the pool for 10 days in Sunny Spain, I have 140 emails to read so someone must have been busy!

Thank god the rain has stopped but unfortunately the damage has been done, we have salvaged our poppy crop but the Delphiniums took a bit of bashing. Don't worry we still have plenty of gorgeous petals ready to go in all colours. Our poppies look amazing and I can't wait to put them on line (not long to go now for all you poppy lovers), keep popping in for progress.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions on any of our products angela@shropshirepetals.com

13/07/2007  |  Thanks for coming!

POPPY_FIELD2.JPG

Last night we held a very successful farm walk, which started at 7.30 and went on until around 10.30pm, it started well with a great turn out of people raring to go. Alan and John drove the tractors and we all went for a hay ride!!! A tour of all the field's was in order, stopping at important points to talk about the crop, what its for, and how its growing (funny and educational). We then took the scenic route back to the farm to talk about what happens once our products are harvested. Then into the petal shed for refreshments and homemade cakes (thanks Rose). A good time was had by all.

 Thanks to everyone who attended!

21/06/2007  |  Darling Buds......

Hi All! Well its wet, wet ,wet here in Shropshire, I've never seen this much rain in June before. To cheer everyone up we've added a beautiful new confetti mix to our range called 'Darling Buds' a gorgeous mix of Icing sugar delphiniums with deep pink Rose buds you can buy it in the pick & Mix section! We've also been really inspired by Country Homes & Interiors magazine who gave us some great inspiration for summer, so we have also created small hanging arrangements for your doors, cupboards even your gazebos (if the sun comes out) filled with Lavender, Wheat & Larkspur have a peek at them on the dried flowers pages or in special offers.

14/06/2007  |  As if by magic!

Well its been a hectic week here at Lynn South Farm! Rose has gone on holiday, Micheal has been busy all week so its been Dawn, Margaret & Myself - We love it!

Let me tell you a little story - Last week as we were all driving to work we all noticed an abundance of Poppies growing up our beautiful stone wall. 'Where have they come from' said Dawn ' We haven't planted them' said Rose, as always Micheal had the answer 'last year we re-built parts of the stone wall, so we had to scrape away some of the top soil, those poppies must have been deep down itching to get out. I wonder how long they've been there? The End

We really haven't planted the poppies and they do look amazing - the wonder of nature......

michael.JPG

What's Michael up to this week?

Has he gone mad, hes finished planting the ordinary (real) potatoes but hes preparing the ground for imaginary ones!!!! The truth is, he has gone mad, Only joking!

Michael, John and the arable team are working with the central science laboratory monitoring the Blackbirds in the UK. This study will help them to understand all aspects of the Blackbird population and the way they live.

11/04/2007  |  Fields of Gold!

 gold_field.JPG

Its beautiful here at the moment the suns shining (which makes me happy) and our fields are the brightest yellow, hello Spring!

We haven't had that many orders over the weekend, so either no one is getting married soon or everyone was basking in the April/Easter sunshine (I think the latter applies), I hope you all had a Choctastic easter anyway. We have been super busy the last couple of days catching up from our extended weekend which is great, it keeps us on our toes, its great to see people buying the Shropshire Box too (its our favourite product), looking at our competitors it also seems to be the best priced by far! (don't worry we won't run out and the price is staying the same for the time being).

I was looking through OK magazine amongst others over the weekend and theres so much 'Kath Kidson'/ country chic type trend about, its great. It got me thinking we need to do a 'good life' petal path/confetti mix (e.g. wheat, delphiniums, heli heads etc) to keep up with the trend, so watch this space! (if you want to know more in the mean time or if your having a garden party and need something or some inspiration let me know)

23/03/2007  |  A little inspiration goes a long way....

POPPY_FIELD2.JPG

This picture was taken last year in our Poppy field not many people get chance to see just how beautiful it is, so I decided to put a picture of it on our blog for all to see.

We had a great brainstorming session yesterday, we came up with enough ideas to keep us going for a year, so be on the look out for our new lines and don't be afraid to ask us about an idea you might have, send us an email or give us a call we don't bite (apart from the cat). We can put one idea into action straight away, if you would like a keepsake of your petals then add an organza bag 4 u (in your confetti colours) to your order, its perfect as a keepsake.

16/03/2007  |  Cream cake Friday

Well it's Friday again so we treated oursleves to some well desevered cream cakes, Yummy! (Sorry Michael we didnt save you one, its for the best)

It's been a steady week this week things are back to normal. The lads are extremely busy on potatoes today I dont think they've had time for a break.

Chad at Source (our PR company) has just confirmed a few photo shoots for us for the next couple of months so keep a look out for our gorgeous petals.

Have a good weekend and don't forget Mother's day! Happy mothers day Mom.

9/03/2007  |  We've got a Spring in our step!

Spring is fast approaching and the hard work has already started - there's no rest for the wicked!

Jonathon is hard at work along with Alan (the growing team) waking up the machinery from its winter sleep to start the ploughing, the seeds are ordered and the South facing fields have been chosen to grow the flowers. One small change though we no longer use acres we now use hectares, which makes it easier to work more precisely.

Its mothers day on the 18th March, we've added new ranges under 10 that can be delivered to the door, try and order beofre Thursday 15th so its gets there on time Buy Me! Buy Me! (on page 4)

Below is a picture of our new limited edition spring/summer confetti called Orange Blossom which is also Orange secented. Fab! Buy Me! Buy Me!

22/02/2007  |  Exhausted, but raring to go!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of your support at the National Wedding Show at the NEC. We had lots of interest and positive feedback and will be introducing new ranges soon.

Our feet hurt and we've lost our voices but it was well worth it. We are just getting back into the swing of things, working hard to get the petals to you in time for your special occasions!

Keep your enquiries coming, and we look forward to hearing from you.

12/02/2007  |  Oh my god! No confetti!

Oh my god! No confetti! Last week I went to a Wedding in Leicestershire at a very exclusive hotel, to my horror when the photos were being taken outside the Orangery no one had confetti!

I had to do something, I quietly spoke to the maid of honour (an old friend) to say that I had a some petal confetti in my car if they wanted to use it, she was so upset that they had forgotten all about it and really wanted to use it.

I had 3 litres of Kaleidoscope confetti with me, there colour scheme was lilac and cream so it coordinated beautifully. The venue were so pleased that they didn't have to clean them up they have taken our cards to put in their wedding packs.

I have seen the photos they look great the confetti looks like its suspended in time. Fab! You can't get married without confetti.

10/02/2007  |  Welcome to our new blog!

Hi welcome to our farm and our new website. Meet the team:

thestaff.jpg

  • Me (Angela) - Sales & Development
  • Rose Half of the Bubb's
  • Margaret Accounts & Admin
  • Dawn Production
  • Michael The other half of the Bubb's (Michael doesn't stand still long enough for us to take a picture, so we've had to improvise and use a picture of Jess, Jonathon's dog!)

You'll have to excuse us we don't do glam when it's cold! We do scrub up. Thank god you can't see my flowery welly's in my picture. Jess wont come inside because she loves the snow, and Rose is keeping her entertained with snowballs!

We are all really excited about our new website and image; it's taken a while to put together and we can't wait to get your feedback.
